People of all genders and ages line up in the central square of Larissa since early morning, patiently waiting to take part in the emergency blood donation announced by the University of Larissa and the General Hospital in cooperation with the Greek Red Cross.
About 350 passengers were on the train at the time of the accident. As a result of the collision, a fire broke out, and panic reigned. Work continues to release passengers. The wounded were taken to hospitals, 53 people were hospitalized.
The authorities are calling on everyone who can to respond to the appeal, as there is a great need for donated blood. From 9:00 to 14:00, all the while, more and more people were arriving at the square. The heartbreaking spectacle was captured by reporters’ cameras.
As previously reported “Athenian News”, passenger train IC 62, en route from Athens to Thessaloniki, collided head-on with a freight train at Tempi. As a result of the crash, 42 people were killed, 25 were missing, about 90 were injured of varying severity. Rescue work continues.
