A fire broke out on the Drama-Thessaloniki train, which stopped a few kilometers from its destination.
There were approximately thirty passengers on the Hellenic Train. The incident took place on Friday at noon, February 24, when a suburban train was approaching the Thessaloniki railway station.
According to the results of the initial investigation, electrical cables became the source of ignition. The fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. After that, the locomotive, which arrived from Thessaloniki, towed the train with passengers to the station, since not a single bus could reach the scene of the incident.
About a week ago, the Intercity train (IC 57), heading to Athens from Thessaloniki with 300 passengers, stopped in Oinoi due to an engine failure and stood there for almost 2 hours, recalls CNN Greece.
