The participants in the mass rally organized by the Piraeus Sectoral Committee of the KKE on Saturday morning, February 4, sent a loud signal against the presence of the US aircraft carrier George Bush in the port of Piraeus and the country’s involvement in dangerous imperialist plans, the Greek Communist Party said in a statement.
The audience chanted the slogan “No land, no water for the murderers of peoples!”, making it clear that they would not tolerate the transformation of the country into a huge US-NATO military base, a target for other imperialist centers, and would not accept participation in the bloodshed of other peoples.
Speaking at the rally Nikos Abatielos, member of the Central Committee of the KKE, secretary of the Central Council of KMG, candidate for parliamentary deputies for the 1st constituency of Piraeus, who, among other things, noted: “Today the KKE is a shield for the people, and tomorrow it will be their hope! Because it is she who points to the need to link the struggle for peace with the struggle for withdrawal from NATO and EUto transform the struggle against the unjust imperialist war into a just people’s struggle that will put an end to the causes of the war. To open the way of hope together with the people, who will have in their hands the keys to power and economy in our country, in other neighboring countries, in Europe, in the world.”
