On February 7 at 12:53 pm, a strong earthquake shook the region of Chalkidiki. According to the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens National Observatory, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake is located in the sea, at a distance of about 20 km from the resort town of Sithonia. The focal depth of the earthquake was 15 km. The earthquake was also felt in Thessaloniki and Mount Athos.
According to the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Kassandra (Chalkidiki), there is no cause for concern, since this earthquake was superficial and lasted only two seconds.
According to GRTimes.gr, no problems have been reported in Thessaloniki.
