Very soon, from 2030, Crete will completely switch to renewable energy sources.
This was announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece Kostas Skrekas, speaking at the meeting with representatives of manufacturing enterprises of the island of Crete. He declared:
“We must create a viable Crete with a viable infrastructure. Crete can use 100% green energy and make a decisive contribution to our national goal of 80% of Greece’s consumption coming from renewable energy by 2030.”
Mr. Skrekas promised to submit a new draft law in the very near future. It will help create professional energy communities that can install renewable energy sources.
Earlier, our publication said that Greece became a magnet for major brands in the international renewable energy market. The number and scale of their operations, from photovoltaic panels and inverter companies to investment giants in the power generation industry, are enormous.
