Bonus for disclosure of tax evasion – how much can you get

“Appodixi” is an application that helps to detect fraud and tax evasion. Users who use it to report bad faith service to the tax authority ΑΑΔΕ receive a cash bonus.

What reward can you get

The size of the bonus will be determined next week, the provision in Parliament is in the final stages of adoption. It should be noted that 80,000 complaints have already been received from citizens about various types of check fraud.

The new regulation stipulates that the cash premium will be calculated depending on the value of the transaction. The minimum bonus amount will be three times the value of the transaction, and the maximum amount that can be earned will be between 1,500 and 2,000 euros.

The measure has been activated since September 20, 2022, and since then, more than 160,000 citizens have installed the “Appodixi” application on their mobile phones. With it, they scan checks and check their validity. Most of the complaints received are related to receipts that were issued by the claimed cash register, but were not transferred to the ΑΑΔΕ electronic system.

Thanks to “Appodixi” inspection bodies detect violations, cases of tax evasion, all sorts of tricks used by professionals. In response, violators are fined, and in some cases their activities are blocked. For example, businesses were found that regularly issued receipts indicating the actual cost of each transaction, however, when transferring data to ΑΑΔΕ, they indicated a lower cost, that is, a different amount was entered in the myDATA e-books.

How Appodixi works

Using the “smart” application is very simple. Step-by-step instruction:

  1. The user opens the application and “scans” the QR code of the receipt using the mobile phone’s camera.
  2. Depending on the status of the receipt, the application generates the following messages:
  • the receipt was sent to ΑΑΔΕ – the details of the receipt are displayed (cashier number, ΑΦΜ company, check number, date and time of transaction, amount FPA operations, in operations with gas stations – the amount and type of fuel). In this case, there is a check whether the data displayed in the application matches the data indicated on the receipt. That is, the value indicated on the check with the value transferred to the tax authorities. If there is a difference, this means that there is fraud: one amount is indicated on the check to the buyer, and another, smaller amount is transferred to ΑΑΔΕ;
  • the funds have been declared, but the check has not yet been transferred to ΑΑΔΕ. In this case, the date and time after which the receipt should have been submitted to the tax service are indicated. If the receipt was issued before this date, the non-delivery of the receipt is indicated;
  • The QR code cannot be read, the cash register is not declared or is not active. In this case, you must report this to the application.

If, after verification, the user decides to declare the fact found, he will be prompted to perform the following actions, tells newsbeast.gr:

  1. Take a photo of the check.
  2. Enter data in the field Λίστας Επιλογών, with the possibility of choosing a value.
  3. Add your desired comments.
  4. Choose whether to file a complaint on your behalf or anonymously.
