Turkish and Serbian volunteers are recruited into the Russian army at the same time as Greek mercenaries (we are talking about Greeks from Greece, not people from Donbass) into the Ukrainian army, which proves that the war in Ukraine creates new historical situations.

At the moment, it is believed that about 50 Turks are fighting in the ranks of the Russian troops, as well as 200 Serbs.

About ten Greek mercenaries serve in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, according to the Greek edition. Pronews. The authors of the publication clarify that we are not talking about immigrants from Ukraine who received Greek citizenship, and not Pontic Greeks who arrived from the Donbass or other regions of the former USSR, but about Greeks born in Greece.

The Turks chose to fight for the Russians, taking as a criterion the fact that the Chechen Turks are also fighting against Kyiv and the West. At the same time, Erdogan supplies drones to Ukraine, builds warships and sells various weapons… Of course, hundreds of expatriate Greeks from Donbass also fight for the Russians. At the same time, many Greeks are fighting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Serbs sided with Russia on the basis of the well-known “motto”: “Russians and Serbs are brothers forever.”

Pronews clarifies that information about Greek mercenaries in Ukraine appeared as early as the summer of 2022, when four Greek citizens fought in the Ukrainian Foreign Legion, and one of them was killed, and another is still fighting the Russians. At the time, the report stated that two more had already left Ukraine. As the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, Greek mercenaries fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region of Kherson and Donbass.

Pronews published on May 2, 2022 the name of one of them: Konstantinos Karatzolis, December 21, 1982 year of birth. It is not known whether he left Ukraine or is still fighting. According to Russian information, two others fled to Poland.

Russian site Rybar published documents revealing the activities of foreign mercenaries in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. The six-page list was reportedly found at a hastily abandoned military base in Ukraine. This is a general list of mercenaries fighting on the side of Ukraine, while we are talking only about those who are fighting in the Mykolaiv region and the region.

The list is sorted by the country the mercenary is from. It has a Greek and a Cypriot. As you can easily see, most of the mercenaries are British, Georgians and Americans. In total, from 42 (!) countries. It should be noted that Western countries, including numerous sponsors, pay their salaries.
