Stabbing in Nea Smyrni: “I knew them, I thought they were my friends”

“I’ve been hanging out with them for the last month,” said a 15-year-old who was the victim of a robbery and was attacked with a knife by a gang of his peers in the Nea Smyrni metropolitan area.

Gangs of minors have already become the talk of the town, becoming a real problem on the city streets. Residents are afraid of “flocks of teenagers” defiling through the streets: “You don’t know what to expect from them.” The latest victim of juvenile delinquents was a teenager from Nea Smyrni.

An evening walk turned into a nightmare for him when his peers, at knife point, demanded his mobile phone and money and did not hesitate to stab him in the leg when he fought back.

The young man told the Alfa channel about the horror he experienced: “I know them. I’ve been hanging out with them for the last month. They took out a knife and took away my mobile phone. They also demanded to give them money. When I started to resist, they stabbed me in the leg to prevent me from chasing them… I thought they were my friends.”

Having been stabbed, the guy turned to two girls for help, who helped him get to the nearest store so that they could provide him with first aid and call an ambulance. On an emergency basis, the doctors who arrived took him to the Children’s Hospital, where the doctors treated the wound.

As Athenian News previously reported, on the night of Sunday, January 29, unknown persons attacked a teenager with a knife at the Polytechnic Heroes’ Square in the Nea Smyrni area.

According to TV channel ANT1, a group of minors settled down on the square and waited for him to return home. It was between 10pm and 10:30pm when there were enough people around. Seeing the victim, the minors approached him and, threatening with reprisals, demanded that he hand over his mobile phone and money. The guy began to resist, and he was hit with a knife. Having seized the booty, the criminals fled the scene. An investigation is underway.
