The 29-year-old co-pilot of the F-4 that crashed off Andravida this morning is dead. The search for the pilot continues.
The Air Force report says:
“On Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:30 am, a two-seat F-4 Phantom II aircraft of the 338th Squadron, 117th Fighter Wing, on a training flight, crashed in a sea area, 25 nautical miles south of Andravidas Airport . As a result, the co-pilot, lieutenant (I) Marios – Mikhail Turoutsikas, 29 years old, was mortally wounded. The investigation continues in relation to Captain Sminagos (I) Efstathios Tsitlakidis, aged 31.”
In search and rescue operations two Air Force AB-205 helicopters, a Navy S-70 helicopter and Coast Guard ships are involved, with a C-130 aircraft on maximum alert.
