Vulnerable families in Amsterdam received unprecedented support.
Now they can not be afraid that their children will have nothing to eat – during each month, those in need can purchase food for free in the amount of 651 euros per month. True, there is one condition, but quite feasible: they all agree to work with specialists, life coaches, in order to cope with temporary difficulties within 6-8 months, “get back on their feet” and improve the financial situation of the family.
In the Fris supermarket, the products laid out on the shelves do not accompany the usual price tags – visitors can take the necessary goods for free. And even information about the income of visitors is not verified – everything is based on trust. The mall was opened thanks to a crowdfunding campaign launched by a student organization, and the products in it were donated by everyone who wants to help others, including large enterprises.
Approximately 200-300 children and 80 families can shop for free every day. One visitor says: “We desperately need something like this, a lot of people are in debt and can’t make ends meet, everything has gone up in price.”
But is this possible in Greece – the question, unfortunately, is rhetorical.
