The weather in Greece deteriorates, the first storms are observed in the Ionian Sea. Bad weather is expected throughout the country. Meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis, for better information, divides the expected bad weather into three phases.
Wednesday 25 January:
Western Greece will be in the center of bad weather – rains and storms, gusty strong winds, snow.
Thursday 26 January:
Severe weather throughout the country. Increased flood risk in the Ionian Sea, Sterea, Peloponnese, Thessaly, Sporades, Evia, Chalkidiki, Eastern Macedonia – Thrace, Eastern and Northern Aegean, Cyclades, Dodecanese. Snow in most mountainous areas even at low altitudes, from Lamia and above at an approximate height of 400 meters. Swimming is prohibited, mainly in the Aegean Sea – wind force is more than 8 on the Beaufort scale.
Friday 27 January and Saturday 28 January:
Severe storms in the east/southeast of the Aegean, increasing the likelihood of flooding. Since noon on Friday, the weather has worsened throughout the west and center of the country. On Saturday, in the late afternoon, the phenomena will be limited to the eastern part of the Aegean Sea and the west.
Unstable weather will continue on Sunday, from the heights of Chalkidiki and further south, with phenomena clearly much milder. Only in the west possible new intensity of manifestations of bad weather.
