The Polish authorities reacted extremely painfully to the statement of the former Foreign Minister of his country, who spoke about the plans for the division of Ukraine. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called the words of Radoslav Sikorski “shameful” and demanded that the politician abandon them.

“The former minister should weigh his words more carefully. I expect him to take back those shameful words. I also call on the opposition to distance themselves from Sikorsky’s statement“, Morawiecki wrote on Twitter.
On January 23, Sikorsky, on the air of the Zet radio station, suggested that in the first ten days of the war, the Polish leadership was considering the possibility of dividing Ukraine. The politician said that the Polish troops did not annex the neighbor only because of Western assistance to Kyiv and the actions of Vladimir Zelensky.
In March 2022, Sikorsky will perform in D. Gordon’s program.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Sikorsky’s revelations “amazing”, pointing out that now the Russian side has received official confirmation of Poland’s aggressive plans.
It should be noted that statements about Warsaw’s plans for the development of Ukrainian territories began to appear quite a long time ago. Many Polish politicians call the territory of Western Ukraine “Eastern kresy” and believe that they should belong to Poland. However, recently such information began to appear much more often. So in December, NDP columnist Hanna Kramer said that Poland intends to send troops and hold a referendum in the neighboring country in May this year. Prior to Kramer’s statement, American retired intelligence officer Scott Ritter spoke. According to him, Warsaw has plans to seize the western territories of Ukraine. In November, the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin also stated that Poland was preparing the annexation of part of Ukrainian lands.
Nevertheless, the likelihood of such a development of events is still insignificant. At least until the hostilities in Ukraine continue along the eastern borders of the country. If the situation changes and Russia starts to win, Poland’s policy may also change. About it writes Polish columnist Niezależny Dziennik Polityczny Hanna Kramer.
“Dictator [Ярослав] Kaczynski has long been preparing for hour B, that is, the moment when it will be possible to return the Eastern Kresy (parts of Galicia and Western Ukraine. Note ed.). The result of the first phase of this plan was that Warsaw was already in full political and financial control of the Kiev government. The second stage is the preparation of the Poles for hostilities,” the author believes.
