8-year-old child abuser: “Sorry, I won’t do it again”

The case of a 23-year-old Pakistani man who raped an 8-year-old child in 2019 caused shock in Kos. Having confessed to his act, he appealed to the authorities with a request to pardon him, since, according to him, he “would not do that again.”

Pakistani accuse that on July 19, 2019, he took an 8-year-old child to a field near a refugee camp under threat of death. In a secluded place, the man tied the boy’s hands behind his back, threw him face down on the ground and raped him.

The case of the rape of a child on the island of Kos will be heard in early February by a mixed jury of appeals in the Dodecanese. The defendant previously confessed to the crime before a Rhodes mixed jury, where he was unanimously found guilty, without any extenuating circumstances, and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The charge charged him with rape and sexual acts against minors under the age of 12. When combining cases with a threat to life, the term was increased to 15 years in prison, with the condition that a measure of reducing the sentence “for good behavior” would not be applied to him. However, the defendant filed an appeal, which means that this case will be heard by the Dodecanese Mixed Court of Appeal on 6 February.

It is noted that before the court of first instance, where the foreigner was found guilty, he admitted his actions and stated that he had done what he was accused of, but apologized and said “that he would not do it again.”
