K.Mitsotakis: "Choose me and I will raise your salary"

The commitment that, as the economy grows, the government will use growth dividends to support our fellow citizens who are currently struggling was made by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the municipality of Korydallos, which he visited on Wednesday morning.

The Prime Minister mentioned the economic initiatives put forward by the government, and in this regard the increase, after 12 consecutive years, of pensions, the abolition of the solidarity contribution, the market pass and the home basket. In addition, Mitsotakis noted that the prison in Koridalos will be closed and moved outside the city to use the space for the benefit of the local community.

In particular, the Prime Minister began his visit from the Digital Education Center of the municipality, and then walked through the main streets of the city and talked to residents and shop owners.

“The concern of this government, our concern, will always be our fellow citizens who need help most. As the economy grows, the government will not hesitate to use growth dividends to support our fellow citizens who are currently struggling. We are facing an imported price stability crisis but we are doing our best to mitigate its effects on households,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

If I am elected for a second term, I will raise wages…

The prime minister focused on the economic initiatives of the government: “From this month, for the first time in 12 years, pensioners will have an increase in pensions. Maximum up to 8%. Whoever has a personal difference, we are concerned, this personal difference will decrease with each pension increase, and whoever has a personal difference will benefit from the abolition of the solidarity levy. Another tax is the solidarity tax, inherited from the time of the memorandum, which is now abolished for everyone. This will affect not only people working in private companies, civil servants, but also pensioners. Starting from February, “Market Pass” will be implemented. We will give you the opportunity to return up to 10% for purchases that you make in the supermarket. With income criteria that, I believe, will cover everyone and everyone, but also with very important government intervention to absorb essentially the entire impact of inflation on the household basket.

“From April 1, we will get another big increase in the minimum wage,” Mitsotakis said, adding that “if the rate in the first four years was tax cuts, and you now know that we all pay lower taxes, then the rate in the second four year there will be a wage increase for every Greek woman, for every Greek, especially for young people who are now entering the labor market.” Kyriakos Mitsotakis also confirmed that prisons would be removed from Korydallos and the area would be used for the benefit of the local community.

Government sources note that the Prime Minister paid special attention to issues of local interest and the development of the municipality of Korydallos. In particular, he said: “You remember how I visited you before the completion of the metro project and at the inauguration of this very important project. And I told you then how much your life will change, and how much the whole Korydallos will change with this important infrastructure project. I I’m happy to be here today and see a busy market despite the difficulties, see optimism and smiles. We have achieved a lot and will achieve even more in the second four years.”

Mitsotakis also mentioned the cooperation between the government and the municipal authorities: “I would like to thank the mayor and the employees of the mayor’s office for their cooperation. life, when it may not be obvious, choose to become familiar with digital technologies and computers, take advantage of the great digital revolution that this government has made a reality. Gov.gr has made life easier, everyone should have access to these services.”

On the Korydallos Prison Relocation Project, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said: “I discussed with the Mayor the big development issue of the Korydallos Municipality, which is the relocation of the Korydallos Prison. You will remember that in my policy statements I pledged that this project will become a reality. I am now absolutely sure that we will fulfill this commitment in the second four years, the place has been found, the financial instruments are in place, the prisons will leave Korydallos, and we will discuss with the local community what to do and how to use this very important space, which will be freed up for the benefit of the local community, for the benefit of the local economy .

Courses at the Digital Learning Center for over 55s

Kyriakos Mitsotakis was at the Digital Education Center of the Municipality, an initiative of the Ministry of Digital Governance in cooperation with the Municipality of Korydallos, which opened its doors in 2022. It operates as a training center for digital literacy and provides free courses in information technology and counseling, with many more specific sub-categories, with courses for people over 55 years of age. “I am especially pleased when I see that people at this stage of their lives choose to study a new subject. This is a very important decision, not only because we all need to get closer to the digital world, but also because it shows a willingness to continue learning” , said the Prime Minister, speaking to citizens participating in the Digital Education Center’s digital courses.

“We made a revolution with gov.gr and we want everyone to be able to take advantage of this and not have to, as I said, turn to their children and grandchildren to make a deal on any business that they may have to do with the state, banks or mobile phone companies,” the prime minister said. “We’ve come to the conclusion that everything can be done digitally, but it has to be done securely.” That is why this program is so important. You are a pilot project and I think that, seeing the success, I will also discuss with the ministry the possibility of extending this project to other municipalities very quickly. That is the purpose of the pilot programs – to test them and improve them.” He added that “the municipality has done an excellent job, if someone wants to use the new public services, you need to have basic knowledge.”

The Prime Minister was greeted and accompanied around the territory by the mayor of Korydallos, Nikos Khursalas, and the head of the center, Elpida Kontopodi. During his visit, he was accompanied by Piraeus MPs Dimitris Markopoulos and Yiannis Tragakis, Piraeus and the Islands MP Yiannis Melas, Secretary of the New Democracy Political Committee Pavlos Marinakis, Organizational Secretary and Director of the Office of the New Democracy President Stelios Kontadakis, Governor of Attica Giorgos Patoulis.
