A woman who fell off a bridge over the Corinth Canal has been found dead. According to the KorinthosTV channel, the deceased was between 35 and 40 years old.
The suicide’s body was taken by EKAV ambulance to Corinth General Hospital, where the Coast Guard conducted an investigation to shed more “light” on the case.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman jumped off the railway bridge that runs over the canal. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Corinth Port Authority and the police authorities of the region. Operational measures are being taken to find out whether the woman’s fall was accidental or whether she decided to die in this way.
The bridge over the Corinth Canal is one of the most popular places in Greece for suicidal. The height from the bridge to the surface of the water is about 60 meters, which guarantees instant death. Every year, several people commit suicide by jumping from this bridge, and in recent years the number of suicides who committed suicide on this bridge has significantly exceeded 100 people.
