Sad news came from Georgia. Half an hour ago Georgian TV channel “Mtavari archi” announced the death of a film actor, pop singer, screenwriter and film director, songwriter Vakhtang Kikabidze.
He was born in July 1938. In 1978 he became a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR. In 1980, Kikabidze was awarded the title of People’s Artist of Georgia. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Georgian Parliament. During his career, Kikabidze played dozens of roles in Soviet and Georgian cinema. Buba Kikabidze studied at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 1959-1965, and in 1961-1963 at the Institute of Foreign Languages. Since 1959, the artist of the Philharmonic. Since 1967 he has been a soloist of the Orera vocal and instrumental ensemble. At the international film festival “Cartakhan-70” he received a prize for the best performance of a male role in the film “Don’t Cry” (1969).
