Approximately at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, a many-hour operation was completed to extract a tourist from a deep gorge, not far from the monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Parnit.
The man was pulled out unconscious, and after a long hike, firefighters carried him to the monastery, from where he was taken by an EKAB ambulance
The operation, which lasted several hours, involved a total of 14 firefighters from the 10th Athens Fire Station, rescuers from O.O.E.D. 1st E.M.A.K., Team 1st E.M.O.D.E.
The injured hiker was reportedly walking with friends along a path on the edge of a cliff. Suddenly, a stone fell on him, after which the man fell into the gorge.
