Ukrainian HIMARS missiles hit Russian training center in Donetsk

Dozens of Russian soldiers were killed, mostly conscripts, according to the Ukrainian military command, during the shelling on New Year’s Eve in the city of Makiivka.

It was one of the deadliest strikes, as dozens of Russian soldiers (according to the Ukrainian side before 400 peopleRussian military correspondents indicate 63 people) were killed in a Russian-held city in the Donetsk region.

Hristo Grozev commented on the hit, reporting: Before/after photo of the school building in Makeyevka, where Russia has deployed mobilized troops from the Saratov region, according to Russian Telegram channels. At midnight on New Year’s Day, Ukraine destroyed the building, killing an unknown number of Russian troops with a HIMAR volley.

It is worth noting that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not hide the MLRS Himars before striking, decorating the installation with New Year’s garlands.

Russia late on Sunday evening admitted that there were casualties as a result of the shelling, but did not comment on the Ukrainian figures.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the destruction of at least 63 occupiers in Makiivka.

Daniil Bezsonov, a senior Moscow official in the Russian-controlled Donetsk region, said a Ukrainian missile hit a vocational school in the city of Makiivka, housing newly mobilized Russian military personnel, two minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day.

“The American MLRS Himars dealt a blow to the professional school,” Bezsonov wrote on Telegram, referring to the missiles supplied by the United States. “There were killed and wounded, the exact number is still unknown,” he added.

The Rybar telegram channel (created by Mikhail Zvinchuk, former press officer of the Ministry of Defense) claims that all the dead were mobilized, 14444 regiments were located in the vocational school, in total there were 600 people in the building.

According to sources of the Operative Reports telegram channel, to which Rybar refers, 78 people were killed and 136 were injured after the strike. The same telegram channel claims that local residents helped adjust the fire, but neither the Russian nor the Ukrainian sides commented on these statements.

Later about the blow to Makeevka spoke out Governor of the Samara Region Dmitry Azarov: Under the blow of enemy forces were, including our fellow countrymen. There are wounded, alas, there are dead. By approval telegram channel “Rybar”, on the territory of the vocational school there was an ammunition depot, which detonated after rockets hit it. The reason for the strike on the vocational school building was “high cellular activity of military personnel in Makeevka,” said TASS with reference to the law enforcement agencies of the self-proclaimed DPR. “Previously, the reason for the HIMARS hit was the active use of mobile phones by the arrived military personnel. The enemy, using the ECHELON reconnaissance complex, revealed the activity of cellular communications and the location of subscribers, ”TASS quoted the interlocutor as saying.

Ukrainian blogger Anatoliy Shariy claims that the commanders who were responsible for the fact that the PTU building was hit by Himars missiles were their commanders, who compactly placed the mobilized, did not hide it, and also allowed conscripts to call relatives and post photos on social networks.
