The night turned into day with numerous fireworks that filled the sky of Athens during the New Year’s Eve, a festive event that was staged in Syntagma Square. At the same time, a party took place in the central market of Varvakeio Agora, which continued until the early hours of the morning.
Marios Fragulis and Georgios Perris, accompanied by an orchestra of 10 professional musicians and soloists, performed at Syntagma Square with songs and melodies that everyone liked.
The mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, took the stage a few minutes before the start of 2023 to wish everyone happiness, as well as express his joy at the presence of people: “It’s great that we are all here today.”
He also wished that “everything is fine” and that 2023 not only heals the wounds of 2022, but also (why not) brings us many beautiful surprises. He concluded his message by saying that he wanted to “see people with smiles like the ones on your faces right now.”
With the advent of the new year 2023, every corner of Athens was filled with fireworks, music and joy.
