The latest outbreak of coronavirus in China has become the largest in the world – 37 million new cases were registered in just one day.
Agency Bloomberg, referring to information from a closed meeting of the National Health Commission, reports that in December 248 million Chinese citizens fell ill with coronavirus, that is, one in five was infected. And on December 20, a kind of record was set: 37 million people fell ill. The last maximum figure was recorded in January 2022, when 4 million people were infected per day.
Bloomberg notes that, according to experts, more than half of the inhabitants of Sichuan province in southwest China and the capital of Beijing are infected. According to media reports, about 5 thousand people die every day from the coronavirus and its consequences.
