For desecration of St. George ribbons in the Russian Federation, they will be imprisoned or punished with a huge fine.
At the plenary session, the State Duma equated St. George’s ribbons with symbols of military glory and adopted a law providing for punishment for their public desecration. As informs “Rosbalt”, the punishment for such an action is severe: a fine of up to 5 million rubles or imprisonment for up to 5 years.
In accordance with the current legislation, for public desecration of the symbol of military glory, a fine of 3 to 5 million rubles threatens a legal entity, the maximum fine for an individual is up to 3 million rubles, as an alternative – imprisonment for up to three years, writes BB.LV.
According to article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the rehabilitation of Nazism, the same actions committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or on the Internet are punishable by a fine of 2 to 5 million rubles or imprisonment for up to 5 years.
