Development and Investment Minister Adonis Georgiadis, in a conversation with MEGA journalists who captured him at the city’s vegetable market in Rentis, mentioned the Santa Claus basket, which, he said, will impress consumers, since 1000 product codes will be added to it.
Mr. Georgiadis arrived at the market in Rentis to reward the traders’ initiative to create their own “basket” of fruits and vegetables at low prices. The minister also took part in the event, where producers and suppliers allocated 40 tons of food to parishes, social grocery stores and organizations that support economically weak citizens.
Minister: “Butchers should think about expanding the consumer basket in their stores.”
Regarding the “family basket” and its correct course, the minister commented: “Whoever buys from the” basket “saves money while remaining in profit.” And regarding the possibility of a “basket” being created by the butchers, Mr. Georgiadis said that although he met with many representatives of the sector to help them make such a decision, this did not happen (there was no understanding on their part), and he suggested that the butchers “well think again.”
As a result, the minister emphasized that inspections in markets and supermarkets are carried out daily, and fines are imposed in case of violations.
