What happened to MEP Maria Spiraki is another big blow for the New Democracy as a whole, as it turned out that a few hours after the official statement of the party,

who gave her a vote of confidence, Kyriakos Mitsotakis by personal decision suspended her party membership, stating that she will not take part in the elections in Thessaloniki, as previously announced. So, following Georgios Kyrtsos, now Maria Spiraki has been removed from the party on the orders of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, but here we must remember one main detail: Georgios Kyrtsos and Maria Spiraki were the only MEPs who signed up for the candidacy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in 2015 so that the latter could run for the party’s presidency, according to what former ND exile Georgios Kyrtsos says. “Suspension of party status” Spiraki closes the circle of signatures. PS Greek politicians have always been full of scandals, but what is happening with the New Democracy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis seems to be breaking all national records. At the same time, it is worth noting that Mitsotakis still feels confident in the post of prime minister, thanks to strong support from the US Democratic Party.
