Wife of 16-year-old Roma: “I want justice and that my husband gets better”

The wife of a seriously wounded 16-year-old gypsy, who was hit in the head by a bullet fired from a service weapon of a policeman and who is in a hospital in serious condition, gave an interview for the first time.

The investigator and prosecutor did not come to an agreement on the preliminary detention of the policeman, so it was decided to place him under house arrest pending a decision on detention. As the Athenian News wrote earlier,
the minor left the gas station without paying 20 euros for fuel. The policemen who were at the gas station, in violation of instructions, opened fire on the thief’s car, seriously injuring a teenager.

A heartbroken young woman says that “the family is waiting for a miracle, a small glimmer of hope”, but in the meantime they are asking for a fair punishment for the policeman who shot the Roma. While the gypsy Kostas Frangulis is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of the hospital, his wife asks for justice and at the same time prays that her husband will recover and soon return to his family and child.

“We live badly … we want Kostas to return. We want justice,” says the mother-in-law of the victim. The wife and mother of a Roma, according to them, want to jail the 34-year-old policeman who shot the guy in the head.

In the case of the gypsy, by order of the prosecutor, two preliminary examinations were appointed. One concerns statements by representatives of the Roma community, in which they make threats and call for acts of revenge for serious bodily harm inflicted on a minorand the other concerns case materials leaked to the press.

The teenager’s father, in an interview with journalists of the Mega channel, apologizes for his intemperance and tough statements made in the previous days, and says that he does not want any child to take his son’s place. “I apologize to the family and children of the policeman. I was extremely angry and did not think what I was saying. I don’t want any child to be in my son’s place,” said the gypsy’s father.

Recall that the law enforcement officer who shot and seriously wounded Kostas Frangoulis in the head in Thessaloniki will be placed under house arrest.
