According to law enforcement agencies, the man was wanted by the German authorities, and a European arrest warrant was issued for him for fraud and extortion. The foreigner crossed the border from Evros on Thursday afternoon from Turkish territory.
However, as soon as he arrived at the Kipon border checkpoint (Συνοριακό Σημείο Διέλευσης των Κήπων), he was subjected to a check. His biographical data was verified by the passport control department, and it was established that a European warrant had been issued against this person, which led to the immediate arrest of a citizen.
The foreigner was taken to Alexandroupolis. The public prosecutor issued a decision to keep the foreigner in custody until the completion of the process initiated for his extradition to the country that is looking for him.
