The father, who was found with two other children near an apartment building, told firefighters that he was resting because he had been working all day. However, information from the police indicates that he was in a state of extreme intoxication. baby father categorically rejects suspicion that he was drunk. He testified to the police about the incident:

“I have 5 children, one 22 years old from my first marriage and four from my second wife. The baby was in his crib, my wife put him to bed. I stayed up all night working in a taxi, and in the morning I went for olives in Agios Stefanos and Oropos. I was very tired, took insulin for sugar and fell asleep. It’s a lie that I was drunk. Until they said the baby was dead. I fought to save the child. The door was locked because my wife locks it to keep the baby from leaving and to protect herself from burglars. My wife and neighbor broke down the door, couldn’t get through the front door, suffocated from the smoke.”
