Greek national record: 1000 patent applications in 2022

The organization officially registering inventions “Οργανισμός Βιομηχανικής Ιδιοκτησίας” completed another year by setting a record: received 1000 patent applications.

This is noted in the OBI organization’s announcement, which also states that “1,000 patent applications in just one year – twice as many as in 2019 and a record for Greece.”

The data highlights a more comprehensive and very promising resurgence of innovation in our country when ordinary citizens, scientists and companies turn new ideas into patents, which steadily leads Greece to progress and development.

Goal: “To nurture a culture of intellectual property”

“The efforts of the organization, as stated, are to constantly facilitate the daily contact of citizens with the organization. Thanks to a very high level of knowledge and individual assistance, now the complete computerization of all procedures for registering and issuing a patent document (Δίπλωμα Ευρεσιτεχνίας), as well as a short response time to an inquiry, is the goal of a friendly and efficient approach to our customers.

But the main thing that we achieve through our constant public presence and actions throughout Greece is to inform the public about intellectual property rights, and to develop a culture of protection more and more.”
