According to experts, this year we will have the most expensive Christmas table in the last 20 years, as prices for turkey and pork have increased by 20% compared to last year.
“What worries us the most is that during the holiday season there are no problems with meat shortages, but prices are rising more and more,” said the president of the Athens Butchers Union, Vassilis Delifilippidis, to ERT. “We cannot come to long-term agreements with either producers or wholesalers,” he stressed, adding: “Pork currently costs 7 euros per kilogram, while Greek turkey is below 10 euros per kilogram, imported ones are about 8 euros per kilogram. kilogram”.
“As professionals, we will fight to ensure that prices remain stable at today’s levels, and we call on the members of the Union to listen to the financial weakness of the Greek consumer and contain prices,” summed up Mr. Delifilippidis.
Recall that in order for the population of the country to be full, and citizens to be able to somehow set the table for the holidays, the state invented such a measure as “family basket”. As noted, for the holidays, for the poor will appear in supermarkets “holiday family basket”which will include products, as well as meat and delicacies (sweets).
