Members of the KKE and KNE parties organized a rally at the site where a derailed train loaded with military equipment from the American army arrived at the port of Alexandroupolis a few days ago and is being transported to the borders of NATO with Russia.

Dionysius Cladismember of the KKE and Secretary of the Regional Committee for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, stressed: “With our symbolic mobilization, here today, a few meters from the port of Alexandroupoli, in a residential area, there is a train carrying tanks and military equipment that has derailed. We want to draw the attention of all residents of the city, region, country as a whole to the following:

Hazardous military materials are passing near our homes, from our workplaces, which pose a threat to our safety, which, unfortunately, today’s accident confirms. Tanks and other military equipment are transported next to our homes and businesses. Parts of the NATO military machine, which, together with its counterpart in Russia, is killing the peoples of Ukraine, Russia and is preparing to draw into its maelstrom both the peoples of other regions and the peoples of our country. Next to our homes, our work, images are revealed. They have made our region a base for assassins and a target for their opponents, for which both the current North North government and the previous SYRIZA government are responsible.

We call for intensifying the struggle for our country’s withdrawal from the war. No participation, no involvement in the war being waged on the territory of Ukraine. This is in the interests of the people of Ukraine, the people of Russia and our people. Because in Ukraine the people of Ukraine and Russia are being killed because of the rivalry of the few for wealth. We have the same enemy in our country. For the sake of the same interests of a few, our people are in danger, just as today they are cold here, they are hungry. No interference, no involvement!».

The crash happened early Friday morning at the French Station (Γαλλικού Σταθμού). The train was loaded with military cargo, which followed to the countries of Eastern Europe, and to the borders with Russia and Ukraine. This is a cargo of armored vehicles and containers recently unloaded at the port of Akriti by the US transport ship Endurance on behalf of the US Army. Cranes and other equipment were sent to the scene to return the train to the rails, as well as police forces for protection.
