Thessaloniki: queue in the metro


Today, many citizens had the opportunity to visit the Papafi metro station as part of the “Open Day” in Thessaloniki and take a tour of it. And, as the local TV channel notes in its report, this is not an April Fool’s joke at all, but a reality.

From early morning, dozens of citizens lined up, patiently waiting to be let into the subway. Attiko Metro President Nikos Takhiaos welcomed the first visitors at 10:00, showed them the station and answered questions from citizens. As soon as the residents of Thessaloniki saw that the train was arriving at the station, their joy knew no bounds, one even (jokingly) exclaimed: “Wow!”.

Recall that Papafi station is the seventh in the main line of the Thessaloniki metro (in the direction of train traffic to the New Station (Νέο Σιδηροδρομικό Σταθμό). The entrance to the subway is located at the intersection of Konstantinou Karamanlis Avenue and Papafi and Simeonidis streets. direction, a 52-meter train with a capacity of 450 passengers will pass through the station.

The ticket price for the Thessaloniki metro train will be close to the price of a regular OASTH ticket (€0.90).

The western entrance/exit of the metro (at the intersection of Karamanlis and Papafi avenues) includes a fixed staircase 2.10 meters wide and a pair of escalators (for ascent and descent). The eastern exit is located on the pavement of Karamanlis Avenue (near Παπάφειο Ίδρυμα), also includes a pair of escalators.

Visiting hours for the public: from 10:00 to 15:00.
