Thessaloniki: grand theft in the house of an elderly woman

A 23-year-old man is accused of stealing 100,000 euros in cash and 170,000 euros in gold pounds from an elderly woman. Attacker disguised as technician ΔΕΗbroke into her apartment in the Toumba district of Thessaloniki and robbed the old woman to the skin.

According to the 78-year-old woman, the theft took place in February of this year, and an investigation by the competent security department identified the perpetrator, and a case was opened against him, which was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office of Thessaloniki. In addition to cash and pounds sterling totaling 270,000 euros (according to the plaintiff), the defendant stole jewelry and five bank cards from the same house.

Just a week ago, a man posing as an employee of the city’s electric company ΔΕΗ, entered the house and robbed the tenants for 3 thousand euros. A criminal case has been opened against a 26-year-old man who, together with his accomplice, fraudulently entered the house of a 68-year-old resident of Thessaloniki and robbed him. The criminals acted in a well-established method – one distracted the owner of the home, and the second at that time “furnished” the apartment. According to the statement of the victim, jewelry worth 3,000 euros was missing from him. The accomplice is wanted. According to Greek law enforcement agencies, the identity of the second perpetrator has not yet been established.

The Tumba-Triandria Police Department is currently investigating. Authorities continue to identify other victims of false electricians. The Greek police have repeatedly warned citizens not to let strangers into their homes without prior approval. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to get through to ΔΕΗ or ΔΕΔΔΗΕ by phone, therefore it is also difficult to check the real existence of a technician.
