The indictment names the former lieutenant governor and senior county officials, the owner and co-owner of a private nursing home, and a general practitioner, three of which are already in custody. Employees of the specified private structure are also accused, reports Neakriti.gr.
The case file lists 30 deaths and 8 assassination attempts, but authorities estimate the number of deaths is much higher. At the same time, it is reported that over the 12-year period of the activity of the alleged criminal organization, its members are estimated to have received illegal property benefits in the amount of millions of euros.
The publication reports that a delay was granted in the case until March 17, 2023 at the request of the lawyers of the defendants, who allegedly could not attend the trial.
