Man arrested for aiming at passers-by in downtown Athens

On Sunday, a very strange event took place in the center of Athens. An armed foreigner hid in one of the lanes, pointing a gun at the townspeople passing by him.

Luckily, there were no casualties. The offender was arrested by law enforcement officers, organizing a police operation to capture him. An unimaginable event occurred at 20:30 on Sunday night (13.11). Mahmoud Sur, 37, a long-time acquaintance of the authorities, was reported by passers-by to “ambush” at the intersection of Lekka and Kolokotroni streets, two of the busiest streets in central Athens, and armed with a pistol, aimed at passers-by.

The police were immediately notified of the inadequate and dangerous man. When the officers arrived at the scene and demanded to “lay down their weapons,” he not only ignored their words, but also pointed a gun at them, and then tried to hide in an alley. The police chased after him, and soon they managed to catch the fugitive in handcuffs. The offender was taken to the Acropolis police station, where it was discovered that the weapon was fake, an “exact copy” of the real one. A criminal case was opened against the “lover of fun”.
