More than 5.5 million vehicle owners will soon be able to see their 2023 road tax amounts. Starting next week, the Independent State Revenue Office will launch a corresponding electronic application on its website My Car.

Each notification will contain a QR code. By scanning this code, taxpayers can easily pay fees through mobile banking without having to write down the payment code and amount. Those who follow this procedure avoid visiting the branches of banks and the Greek post office.

However, citizens who are not familiar with the Internet and visit banks to pay will also be able to use the QR code at ATMs. In addition, for even greater convenience, there will be the possibility of paying via web banking, which from this year is carried out using the RF code.

In particular, road tax notices for 2023 will be posted by the end of the week – possibly even tomorrow, Tuesday (November 15) – on the AADE website, giving vehicle owners approximately six weeks to pay off their obligations. The deadline for paying the fare in 2023, like every year, this year will also be December 31, but the Ministry of Finance will extend it for the convenience of citizens. In particular, the amounts that the owner of each vehicle will be asked to pay for road tax in 2023 are as follows:

In addition, the platform MyCAR allows motorists to perform the following actions online:

  • Temporarily mark the vehicle as stationary so as not to pay road tax by turning in license plates to the police without visiting the tax office.
  • Download the toll road notice and get your toll road certificate.
  • Remove the immobility of the vehicle and pay the road tax monthly.

Access to myCar possible with TaxisNet tax accounting network codes.

Those who do not wish to pay the toll must “turn in” their license plates electronically through the dedicated myCar platform.

Owners with their TAXISNet codes must do the following:

If you are connected to the AAΔE single digital government portal:

  • Login to the app myCar
  • Enter Taxisnet codes
  • Enter: a) city code b) street c) house number
  • Claim a parking space (leased or registered)
  • Apply now
  • Get an application number
  • Remove the license plates from the vehicle and keep them in a safe place.

After the process is completed, the vehicle cannot be moved. Otherwise, fines of up to 30,000 euros are provided in case of a repetition of the violation. The only way to move the vehicle is temporary license plates, for which the driver must have insurance for the car. Authorities say that motorists who have re-introduced their vehicle will be subject to an online check to see if they had insurance on the vehicle at the time of application.

It should be noted that the right to “removal from the joke” is granted once a year. The platform concerns personal cars or motorcycles.
