Confusion with seasonal sales

The cancellation of sales in mid-November cancels the previous planning for the opening of stores this Sunday, November 6th.

The cancellation of Sunday’s open house, when shops and supermarkets were supposed to be open, caused a stir among consumers.

As a reminder, until now, stores will be open on the first Sunday of the mid-winter sale, that is, November 6th. However with the cancellation of the season of intermediate discounts, shops will not work. Article 6 of the draft law of the Ministry of Development abolished intermediate discounts. As already noted, the periods of sales, during which the sale of goods or the provision of services at reduced prices, are established:

  1. Winter sales (from the second Monday of January to the end of February).
  2. Summer sales (from the second Monday of July to the end of August).

Recall that the first intermediate (demi-seasonal) sales were legalized in 2013 and provided for a short period of discounts in the first ten days of May and the first ten days of November. However, then the time was increased to 15 days. Thus, until the end of 2022, there are two Sundays with open stores:

  • penultimate Sunday before Christmas, December 11, 2022,
  • last Sunday before Christmas), December 18, 2022

On these days, shops will be open from 11:00 to 18:00. However, the opening hours of the shopping centers will be different, i.e. they will be open from 11:00 to 20:00.

The Sundays that stores will open in 2023 are five of the seven that have been so far:

  • It is expected that on the first Sunday of the winter sale, that is, January 9, they will be open from 11:00 to 18:00.
  • It is expected that on Palm Sunday, that is, April 2, they will be open from 11:00 to 16:00.
  • It is expected that on the first Sunday of the summer sales, that is, July 16, they will be open from 11:00 to 20:00.
  • It is expected that on the penultimate Sunday before Christmas, that is, December 10, they will work from 11:00. until 18:00
  • It is expected that on the last Sunday before Christmas, that is, December 17, they will work from 11:00. until 18:00

Also, shops will not work on the first Sunday of May, i.e. the 7th of the month, and on the first Sunday of November, i.e. the 5th of the month, as the season of intermediate discounts has been abolished.
