Published a complete list of 50 essentials that will make up the “basket of a housewife”. It included, in addition to products, hygiene products, animal feed and more.
Basic commodities such as bread, cheese, milk, cooking oil, diapers, baby food, cleaning products and personal care items are among the product categories for which the mark-up will be minimal. Inflation has reached its limit in Greek households and the government has recently decided to take certain measures to support the population of the country.
31 product categories (50 products) will make up the so-called “housewife’s basket” (“Καλάθι της νοικοκυράς”). The state will strive to ensure that the prices of specific goods do not rise at all or very little.
In fact, price tags for 50 items of goods will be placed daily in supermarkets. They will be specially marked, and the consumer will also be able to receive information through an electronic application that is updated every day.
The measure will affect chain stores with a turnover of more than 70 million euros. List in full:

* Bread for toast
* Loaf of bread

3. Pasta:

4. Pork:

5. Poultry meat:

* From turkey meat or “doctor’s sausage” type
7. Chilled Fish:
* In assortment (at least one product name), depending on the season
8. Whole milk:
* Fresh whole milk
9. Whole Milk Reduced Fat:
* Fresh skimmed milk <2%
10. Canned milk:
* Condensed milk
11. Yoghurts:
* Unflavored cow’s milk yogurt
* Unflavored cow’s milk yoghurt (low fat <2%)
12. Cheese:
* Slices (slicing)
* Guda
* Low fat cheese
13. Other types of food products:
* Canned tomato juice
14. Eggs:
* Products from the poultry farm and small households – producers
15. Margarine, vegetable fats:
* Margarine
16. Olive oil

18. Vegetables frozen:
* At least one type of frozen peas, okra, green beans
19. Sugar:

20. Baby food:
* Baby food (baby formula)

23. Tea bags:
* Black or herbal tea

25. Bottled water:
* Mineral water without gas in bottles (500 ml or 1 l)
26. Fruit Juices:
* Orange juice
27. Detergents and sanitary products:
* Disinfectants and hand sanitizers
* Laundry detergents (liquid and powder, not tablets)
* Detergents for washing floors and cleaning surfaces – bleaches
* Dishwashing liquid for hand washing
* Kitchen paper towels (roll)
28. Personal hygiene items:
* Toothpaste
* Toilet paper
* Napkins
* Tampons
* Shampoo
* Solid soap
* Adult diapers (for incontinence)
29. Products for children:
* Baby diapers
* Personal hygiene items for babies (baby wet wipes)
* Personal hygiene items for babies (shampoo)
30. Animal Feed:
* Dog food
* Cat food
31. Soft drinks:
* At least one type of fizzy soft drink.
“The prices of 50 products will not be reduced, but will be contained,” explains the Secretary General for Trade and Consumer Protection regarding the “household basket”, which is expected to appear in supermarkets in about 2 weeks and will be updated every 15 days.
