The Golden Dawn trial was interrupted due to riots in the courtroom

Riots erupted at the Golden Dawn Court of Appeal as some of the assembled party supporters began shouting slogans in support of Ilias Kasidiaris and Giannis Rabbit, and Magda Fissa demanded the police find a way to “shut their mouths”.

When the court session was interrupted to discuss procedural issues, supporters of Ilias Kasidiaris gathered in the hall – shouted the slogan “Ilias, remember, we are with you”, and a bottle (this time without gasoline) was thrown by the Fiss family support group.

Earlier, the defense of Nikos Michaloliakos, having submitted a power of attorney for its legalization, asked to provide documents related to the evidence of his summons in order, if necessary, to return with a corresponding petition for an illegal summons.

“Today, Nikos Michaloliakos will appear in court for the first time. He claims that he did not pay attention to the subpoena, because at that time, from May 12 to May 22, 2022, he was in the intensive care unit. He does not know at all who received the subpoena on his behalf because he claims he has never seen her,” said Dimitris Papadelis, one of his lawyers.

October 14, 2020 ended trial of the Golden Dawn party(Chrisi Avgi).

At the first stage, the verdict was announced for Georgios Rupakias, the murderer of Pavlos Fissas. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and 10 years for participation in a criminal organization.

His “colleague” Ioannis Kazantzoglou, who apparently directed his actions, was sentenced to 8 years in prison for being an accomplice to the murder and 6 years for being a member of a criminal organization.

Nikos Michaloliakis and the entire leadership of the party were sentenced to 13 years in prison: Papas, Lagos, Kasidiaris, Panagiotaros, Germenis, with the exception of Matteopoulos, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Iliopoulos and Kouzilos were sentenced to 7 years for participation in a criminal organization.

Zisimopoulos, Gregos, Brambarousis, Zaroulia and Koukoutsis were sentenced to 6 years in prison.

A week earlier, the court announced the “Golden Dawn” criminal organization based on the fact that a former member of the organization killed Pavlos Fissas, a left-wing activist.

Justice has triumphed: "Golden Dawn" recognized as a criminal organization

Chronology of events

On the night of September 17-18, 2013, in the Amphiali area (Keratsini, Piraeus), there was a skirmish in a cafe. Two men aged 34 and 45 had an argument over a football game. Later, when the youngest of the debaters left the cafe, he was attacked by a group of 15 people in camouflage uniforms.

At the same time, a car drove up, from which the driver got out, the second participant in the dispute in the cafe. He plunged a knife into the boy’s chest. The attacker is a 45-year-old member of the far-right Golden Dawn party. According to some reports, he wanted to hide this circumstance and allegedly called his wife to throw away the card of a member of a radical political force. But soon after the crime, Georgios Rubakias was arrested and confessed to the murder. And the discarded card was found in one of the dumpsters near his house.

The mortally wounded young man, before losing consciousness, managed to tell the police the name of his killer. The guy died shortly after arriving at the Tzanio hospital. Pavlos Fissos was killed, a Greek rapper who has been performing since 1997 under the pseudonym Killah P. He adhered to leftist views, and his father was a member of the communist party KKE.

Answer “Chrisi Avgi”

The leader of the party, Nikos Michaloliakos, acknowledged political responsibility for the murder of the anti-fascist singer, but said that he “considers it unacceptable to judge the entire party for this.”

The death of the 34-year-old rapper at the hands of a member of the Golden Dawn (X.A.) caused a storm of indignation both in Greece and abroad, and a lot of clashes between Chrysi Avgi and her opponents. The result was the murder of two members of the Chrysi Avgi party and a large amount of destruction caused by unrest, arranged by representatives of the anarchist party.
