Fate did not spare a 50-year-old man who was returning from a trip to Albania along the Athens-Lamia national road at noon on Wednesday, September 28.
Near the road junction Σκάλας Αταλάντης he became ill and began to lose consciousness. Thanks to the fact that he managed to taxi into an emergency (emergency) lane at 148 km of the national highway, a large-scale accident was avoided, according to the website lamiareport.gr.
A friend of the driver, who was in the car, immediately notified the ambulance and the police, however, despite the efforts of rescuers, the man died on the spot. And his death was ascertained at the Atalanti Medical Center, where he was taken by doctors.
At the moment when the man lost consciousness, a traffic police brigade arrived to put marks on the vehicle. The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Λοκρών police.
Everything indicates that death was due to pathological causes (heart attack), however, as it should be in cases of sudden death, an autopsy was ordered.
