Power Pass: June grant paid out to beneficiaries

Emergency financial support from the state budget of Greece, to cover part of the increase in the cost of electricity consumption, was received yesterday by 866,181 beneficiaries.

The total amount was 31.6 million euros, it was transferred from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Digital Management and credited “ΚτΠ ΜΑΕ” to the accounts of the recipients of the subsidy.

After this payment, the total costs of the state budget to cover part of the increase in the cost of electricity consumption in household electricity bills issued between 1.12.2021 and 30.6.2022 amount to 295.6 million euros. newsbeast.gr.

Earlier, our publication reported that the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas announced subsidies on electricity consumption for October. The new support plan provides three-level scheme subsidies, depending on the number of kilowatts consumed by households. Subsidies for natural gas were also announced.

Starting electricity prices in October fell to 14-16 cents per kilowatt-hour, based on price lists announced by electricity suppliers, the minister said. The subsidies will continue to cover all consumers and those connected to the grid, with no income criteria, but a three-tier system will be introduced from next month, with higher subsidies for low consumption levels and additional discounts to encourage energy savings.
