A new program to subsidize photovoltaic panels (water heaters) in the amount of 800 to 1000 euros will open by the end of the year.
The goal of the government funding program for households is to replace water heaters (boilers) powered by electricity with systems that receive (and heat water in the boiler) from photovoltaics. The application platform will open in December.
Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas said the repowerEU-funded program to replace electric water heaters with modern solar water heaters will begin by the end of the year, while also confirming that the program’s new strategy “Εξοικονομώ Κατ’ οίκον” has also received subsidies.
The Minister noted that in the next two weeks, a guide on saving electricity for enterprises will be published in advance.
According to the information, the program is expected to be “launched” under the guidance of the “Recycling – Device Replacement” (“Ανακυκλώνω – Αλλάζω Συσκευή”) program, and the Ministry of Environment and Energy will subsidize the replacement of electric water heaters with solar ones, with an average purchase cost of 800 to 1000 euros.
Provided that the intentions of the authorities are confirmed, the program will be “launched” with specific criteria – income and social – again, such as subsidizing electrical appliances, then interested persons will have to join the program by submitting an application on the government’s special electronic platform gov.gr.
The interested party submitted one application per 1 separate dwelling, which is either the main or additional (own, rented or rented out) and with a working electricity supply.
Device subsidy criteria:
1st income category: annual income per family member less than 5,000 euros – citizens will receive 50% of the cost of the device.
2nd category of income: annual income from 5,000 to 10,000 euros – citizens will receive 45% of the cost of the device,
