Spiegel: the accident on the Nord Stream gas pipelines is a sabotage


The German government launched an investigation into the causes of accidents on gas pipelines with the involvement of federal security agencies, one of the main versions is sabotageSpiegel writes, citing its own sources.

State of emergency on both gas pipelines occurred near the Danish island of Bornholm between Poland and Sweden. If a gas leak at Nord Stream 2 was found southeast of the island – on the border of the territorial waters of Denmark and the neutral zone, then at Nord Stream – to the northeast. The distance between leak points on gas pipelines is about 70 kilometers. There are 3.5 kilometers between the leak points at Nord Stream.

Peskov said that the state of emergency required urgent proceedings. He specified that the pressure at the facility had dropped significantly. “We are extremely concerned about this news,” a Kremlin spokesman said.

Also in the Kremlin answered to a question about a possible sabotage on the Nord Stream lines. As the press secretary of the Russian president said, no option can now be ruled out. In general, the news about the emergency on the gas pipeline was called very disturbing.

In the meantime, due to the shutdown of gas supply through Nord Stream, gas prices in Europe have started to rise again, already approaching $1,950 per thousand cubic meters, about ten percent higher than the day before.

The first identified incidents with Nord Stream became known on Monday, September 26. At that moment, the pressure had already dropped in the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. A potential gas leak from an offshore gas pipeline occurred off the coast of the Danish island of Bornholm. The Danish Maritime Authority later clarified the data and also urged ships to avoid the area of ​​the incident.
