A policewoman shot an Albanian bandit on the territory of the Politehnio

A female police sergeant shot and killed an Albanian gunman on the Zografa university campus in self-defense when he attacked her with a screwdriver during a police operation.

At the moment when she was heading towards him, she was attacked with a screwdriver by a well-known Albanian bandit of about 30 years old. In order to save her life from a murderous act, the sergeant fired at the legs of a man with a service weapon.

An Albanian bandit was wounded and taken to the Red Cross. According to reports, he lived in a dormitory with his brother, who was also arrested. The Albanian has 4 arrest warrants for robbery, possession of weapons and drugs. The victim was taken to the Red Cross, he is being treated under guard. The policewoman was transferred to the 401st military hospital of Athens. According to some media reports, the Albanian’s mother and brother were also handcuffed.

Today, from 06:00 am, a large-scale police operation is being carried out on the Zografos campus and, in particular, in the student dormitory, in the presence of the prosecutor, in combination with searches of the homes of suspected criminals. The operation is carried out because the student dormitory is used by criminals as a base and asylum, with especially vigorous activity – robberies and drug trafficking – being carried out in the wider area of ​​Zografou, Kesariani, Vyronas and Athens.

During the operation, the 35-year-old female sergeant felt unwell and left. During her departure, she was attacked by a 30-year-old foreigner, whom she wounded with a service weapon. The man has 4 outstanding arrest warrants for robbery, weapons and drugs. The wounded man was taken to the Red Cross and is under guard. The policewoman was transferred to the main military hospital 401 in Athens.

The operation involves 6 police teams, 4 special forces teams, teams from the Attica Security Directorate, the Attica Immigration Directorate and the Narcotics Sub-Directorate. The operation is ongoing and a new announcement will follow upon completion.
