The platform is open to those who are interested in working as personal assistants for people with disabilities.
Personal assistants will support (with guaranteed pay and insurance) citizens with disabilities through the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs pilot program “Personal Assistant for the Disabled”.
Interested parties can apply digitally starting Monday 26 September 2022 at the online address https://prosopikosvoithos.gov.gr. In order to better serve them, there will be a help desk to report/resolve problems and provide instructions over the phone at 1555 and 210 7000240 and through the website.
The Personal Assistant Registry registers citizens under the age of 67 who wish to work as personal assistants. Their registration will be preceded by a criminal record check and successful completion of a distance learning program provided by the ministry free of charge.
Personal assistants, after joining the registry, will be chosen by our fellow citizens with disabilities (people with musculoskeletal, intellectual and/or developmental or mental disabilities, and people with sensory disabilities) to support them and improve their independent life despite their disability.
Support will be provided based on the individual needs and living conditions of beneficiaries with disabilities and in accordance with their individual choice and interests, indicatively:
a) in daily activities (food, clothing, personal hygiene),
b) in work and study,
c) in the organization of leisure,
d) participation in public life.
It is clarified that our fellow citizens with disabilities who are provided with personal assistant hours under the program will have access to the registry of personal assistants and their profile in order to search, contact and select one or more personal assistants in accordance with their needs. They will choose between:
a) hourly personal assistance from one or more personal assistants,
b) personal assistance of 1 assistant living in the house.
After that, persons with disabilities will enter into a private agreement with their personal assistants. The payment for a personal assistant is six euros per hour.
In case of personal assistance when living together the payment of the “personal assistant” is one thousand two hundred euros per month and includes rest days.
Payment of money will be made by OPECA on a monthly basis to the bank account of the employee declared as a personal assistant. The project is being implemented as part of the Greece 2.0 National Recovery and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
