Meeting Mitsotakis with a Greek taxi driver in New York: "How are you dude?" (video)

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had an unexpected meeting in the United States, where he has been for the past few hours.

Arriving in New York and walking with his colleagues, the Prime Minister accidentally met a Greek taxi driver on the street. When Kyriakos Mitsotakis realized he was Greek, as shown in the video he posted on his personal Instagram account, he told him, “How are you, big one? What are you doing? Where are you from?” The Greek taxi driver tells him that he is from Tripoli and that he has been in the US for fifty years.
However, this is a literal translation, and in Greek it sounds a little simpler, given the vernacular participle “re”, something in the style of “How are you, dude?”

“So began our journey to the USA,” the prime minister wrote, posting a video of the meeting on Instagram.

As we reported earlier, the Prime Minister of Greece went to New York to speak at the meeting of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, his speech is scheduled for Friday.

The trip program is full, writes tanea.gr. In his speeches and meetings, Mr. Mitsotakis intends to emphasize the role of Greece as a pillar of security and stability, as a reliable ally and partner at a time when Europe is facing numerous challenges due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its consequences. He is ready to present his country as a strategic center of Europe’s energy security, as an attractive investment destination, as well as to demonstrate the legal, historical and political positions of Greece, based on international law.
