Greece-Russia balance deficit of 1.04 billion euros. Increase in imports by 200%

By imposing sanctions against Russia, the Greek government only managed to create a trade deficit between Greece and Russia of about 1.04 billion euros until July by increasing the cost of imports by 200.4%, while with Ukraine there was a surplus of 46 million . euro.

According to ELSTATin July this year, the value of Greek imports from Russia amounted to 1049.5 million euros, an increase of 200.4% compared to 349.4 million euros in July 2021.

The value of Greece’s exports to Russia was €9.6 million, down 42.6% from €16.8 million in July 2021. The trade balance between Greece and Russia was negative and amounted to 1,039.9 million euros (deficit).

Over the seven-month period, the value of Greek imports from Russia amounted to 4510.8 million euros, an increase of 127.9% compared to 1979.5 million euros in January-July 2021.

The value of Greece’s exports to Russia amounted to 69.8 million euros, down 32.3% compared to 103.2 million euros in January-July 2021. The trade balance between Greece and Russia was negative and amounted to 4440.9 million euros (deficit).

Also in July, the value of Greek imports from Ukraine amounted to 8.1 million euros, which is 47.7% less than in July 2021, when it was 15.6 million euros.

The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine amounted to 54.1 million euros, an increase of 49.1% compared to July 2021, when it was 36.3 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Ukraine was positive and amounted to EUR 46.0 million (surplus).

Over the seven-month period, the value of Greek imports from Ukraine amounted to EUR 82.6 million, down 19.9% ​​from EUR 103.1 million in January-July 2021.

The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine amounted to 184.7 million euros, an increase of 34% compared to 137.8 million euros in January-July 2021. The trade balance between Greece and Ukraine was positive and amounted to 102.1 million euros (surplus)
