The unemployed refugees from Ukraine are drawn into prostitution by Czech pimps.
There are many Ukrainian women in the Czech Republic who fled the war and cannot find a job to feed their children. Without a livelihood, some become the prey of pimps writes Czech newspaper “Lidove Novy”. Zdenka Pekharova, coordinator of the “Association for the Protection of Women”, noting the difficult situation of Ukrainian women – “no money, no work” – says:
“Most often they get into the sex business because of financial difficulties. In every crisis there are people who want to take advantage of this situation.”
The publication says that 10-13 thousand sex workers and laborers currently work in the Czech Republic. And it is not known exactly how many Ukrainian women were forced into prostitution in the Czech Republic after the start of the war.
