Opening of the 86th International Exhibition in Thessaloniki

Today is the first day of the International Exhibition in Thessaloniki (86η ΔΕΘ). The United Arab Emirates is present as a guest of honor. The event will run until Sunday 18 September.

Since yesterday, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has been in Thessaloniki. In the evening he attended a friendly meeting with journalists at the central hotel of Thessaloniki and walked around Aristotle. Today at 10:30 he will meet with the Board of Directors of ΔΕΘ – Helexpo, at 11:00 he will inspect the pavilions of the exhibition, and on Sunday at 13:00 he will hold a press conference at “Ι. Βελλίδης”. At 20:00, the Prime Minister will present “Ι. Βελλίδης” the main directions of the government’s economic policy and measures to support the population and businesses in the energy crisis.

Today at 11:30 am will take place opening of the stand of the Ministry of Health of Greece. The presentation will be held by the Minister of Health of the country, Thanos Pleuris. Thematic presentations will be held during the event:

• Actions to improve care for cancer patients and the “New Theagenio” in Thessaloniki. Ioannis Kotsiopulos, Secretary General of the Health Service.
• Personal doctor. Marios Themistocleous, Secretary General of Primary Health Care.
• National screening program. Irini Agapidaki, Secretary General of Public Health.
• Reforms in the field of assisted reproduction from a medical point of view. Elena Rapti, Member of Parliament for the 1st Thessaloniki District, North Dakota.
• Actions of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute in the field of public health. Dr. Efstathios Gonos, Director General of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute.

The honorary country for the 86th ΔΕΘ is the UAE, whose delegation consists of 400 people, 65 companies and institutions from the private and public sectors, leading sectors of investment management, energy, food and beverage, defense, space technology, tourism, shipping, real estate. The honorary delegation is headed by the Minister of Economy of the country, Abdullah bin Tuk Al Marri.

For the third year in a row, the Thessaloniki Helexpo forum will be held in parallel with thematic panel discussions on the main issues of the economy and development. The event will also feature a large-scale jubilee program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the catastrophe in Asia Minor.

“ΔΕΘ is back, the city is celebrating again” – said the president ΔΕΘ-Helexpo Thassos Tsikas as it is the first exhibition in full operation after the coronavirus pandemic. With 1,500 exhibitors participating, exhibition space sold out, and the goal of the organizers is to become one of the best ΔΕΘ of the decade.

The international fair will run until Sunday 18 September. Opening hours: 16.00-22.00 weekdays and 10.00-22.00 weekends.
