The 4-year-old girl was airlifted from a boat south of Crete to Chania hospital early Tuesday morning. The child was on board a boat with migrants.
The child was unconscious when she was picked up by a Hellenic Air Force helicopter crew. The girl was without food and water for several days and lost consciousness, reports the local publication zarpenews.gr.
The passengers of the boat, on which the girl was, gave a distress signal. The Greek authorities reacted quickly and a helicopter was sent to the area soon after.
However, despite the efforts of the hospital doctors, it was not possible to save the child.
