An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Samos on 31 August at 12:56 pm. The epicenter is located at a distance of 15 km from Pythagorion.
The depth of the outbreak is estimated at 13.5 kilometers.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the quake had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale.
This is the second shock of a similar magnitude in the last month. The previous one, also of magnitude 4.9, occurred on August 14 at 6:24 am in the sea area northeast of Vateos Samos.
