Five beaches with clear waters 50 minutes from Athens

The beaches of Attica are a unique privilege of Athens. They are located close to the metropolis, but visiting them, you seem to be “away from the bustle of the city.”

Their location allows for short trips in order to swim, get some sun and go home. There are plenty of beautiful beaches – organized or isolated – for anyone who wants more tranquility and the feeling of being on a “quiet island”.

The beaches of Attica 50 minutes from Athens

Altea – the settlement of Ag. The marina belongs to the municipality of Kropias. The original name of the area was Prapa Mali-Kakovendi, according to the website of the Altea Residents Landscape Design Association. In 1993 it was renamed Altea, from als (water) and vista, meaning sea view. There, therefore, is one of the wonderful beaches of Attica, Skalakia. It is a picturesque cove with small pebbles, great views and crystal clear waters. He will conquer you from the first minute.

Blue coast – Lagonisi. The beaches of Attica offer many options for swimming on weekdays and weekends. The deep blue waters of the bay are the reason for the name of this beach in Attica. Not far from Athens (only 37 km), the Blue Coast (Γαλάζια Ακτή) is famous for its fine sand and shallow waters with clear waters. It is an ideal choice for children and adults to play and swim as the location of the bay is sheltered from the northerly winds.

Beach Agios Nikolaos located in Anavyssos on the territory of the School of Tourism Professions. A wide strip of sand connects the beach with Ag Church. Nikolaou (hence the name), which creates a unique landscape. The beach has fine sand and shallow water, which gradually deepens. Its large area offers bathers the opportunity to choose where they want to stay. The beach is disorganized.

special bay in Lagonisi (Κολπίσκος Λαγονησίου) is an option for those who want a more relaxing holiday on the beaches of Attica as it is not easy to find because there is no sign leading to the beach. You will notice it after passing Pefki Beach (after Heaven Beach Bar). By the hill you will see a small dirt road that is not too visible. Following it, you will find yourself in a small secluded bay of Lagonissi. The beach has coarse sand and pebbles. The waters are crystal clear and cool.

Beach in Saronida. The area used to be called “Yurdinsky pines”. Then it was renamed Saronida, a name derived from the Saronic Gulf, which overlooks the settlement. Saronida beach is located in the center of the village, ideal for a pleasant and refreshing swim. This is one of the beaches of Attica with easy access, sandy beach and clear water. There are shady places due to the surrounding trees and umbrellas placed by the municipality. On other coasts of the region, access to the sea is difficult due to the rocky terrain.
